PAGE INSPECTOR

Every page is a destination.
Make it a clear one.

Give a page its name and address. Decide where it belongs in navigation and how a shared link describes it. Keep these decisions separate from styling the elements on the page.

A page path belongs to your website. It is not a new domain.

ONE PAGE, DIFFERENT INTRODUCTIONS

Think about where the visitor meets it.

The content lives on your website, but people may first encounter it in a menu, a search result or a shared link.

Use a label people can follow.

The page name, navigation label and address can serve different purposes. Keep menu labels short and understandable, then choose the order and supported parent relationship.

  • Decide whether this page appears in navigation.
  • Use a helpful label and order within the menu.
  • Check the menu on both wide and narrow screens.

MAKE THREE SEPARATE DECISIONS

A hidden link is not a private page.

Is the page ready to be public?

Choose its public or draft status. Saved page settings remain part of the editor draft until you publish the website.

Publication

Should it appear in a menu?

Navigation visibility controls the link. Removing it from a menu does not protect the page’s address.

Navigation

Who should be able to open it?

Member-only page rules require the optional User Authentication app. No-index settings do not replace authentication.
